Terms of Use

Effective August 5, 2026

These terms govern your use of vpsalumni.org, the website of Vaz Preparatory School Past Student Association, Florida Inc. ("VPSPSA," "we," "us"). By using the site you accept them. They are short on purpose, and they are written to be understood rather than to intimidate.

Who runs this site

VPSPSA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation registered in the State of Florida, EIN 20-8175233. We are an alumni association run by volunteers in support of Vaz Preparatory School in Kingston, Jamaica.

What this site is for

This website exists to tell you what the association does, to let you join it, to let you support its work, and to sell tickets and sponsorships for its events. You may read it, print pages from it, share links to it, and quote from it with attribution. Please do.

What you may not do is use the site to harm anyone. That means: do not attempt to gain access to any part of the site or its underlying systems that is not publicly available; do not submit anything through our forms that is unlawful, abusive, defamatory, or deliberately false; do not use any address collected from this site to send unsolicited commercial email; do not scrape the site to build a mailing list; and do not misrepresent yourself as speaking for the association.

Membership and forms

Submitting a membership or contact form starts a conversation. It does not by itself make you a member, and it does not create any obligation on either side. Membership is confirmed by the association, and the association reserves the right to decline or withdraw membership.

Please give us information that is accurate and keep it current, particularly your email address, since that is how we will reach you. What we do with what you submit is set out in our Privacy Policy.

Donations, tickets and sponsorships

Donations, ticket purchases and sponsorship commitments are governed by our Donation & Ticket Terms, which sit alongside this page and form part of these terms. Where the two documents differ on a question of money, the Donation & Ticket Terms govern.

Content on this site

The text, photographs, logos, crest, and design of this site belong to VPSPSA or to the people who licensed them to us, and are protected by copyright and trademark law. The Vaz Preparatory School name and crest are used with the school's permission.

You may reproduce short extracts for non-commercial purposes with attribution to VPSPSA. You may not reproduce photographs of identifiable people, republish the site's content wholesale, or use our name, crest or logo in a way that suggests we endorse you, a product, or a position. If you want to use something and you are not sure whether this covers it, write and ask. We are an alumni association and we are generally pleased to say yes.

If you believe something on this site infringes your copyright, write to info@vpsalumni.org identifying the material and the page it appears on, and we will investigate promptly.

Photographs of people

This site publishes photographs from school and association events. If you appear in one and would prefer not to, write to info@vpsalumni.org and tell us which page. We will remove it. You do not need to give a reason.

What you send us

If you send us a photograph, a memory, a testimonial or any other material — whether through a form, by email, or by posting it to us — you are giving us permission to use it in the association's newsletters, publications, event materials and on this website, with attribution where appropriate. You keep ownership of it. You are also telling us that it is yours to give, and that using it will not breach anyone else's rights.

If you would rather we did not use something you have sent, say so when you send it, or write to us afterwards.

Links to other sites

We link to other websites — Eventbrite and TouchstoneLink for tickets, Marriott for hotel bookings, our social media channels, partner organizations, and the sites of schools and charities we work with. Those sites are run by other people under their own terms and their own privacy policies. We link to them because they are useful, not because we control them or vouch for everything on them.

Accuracy, and the limits of it

We take care to keep this site accurate, and we correct mistakes when we find them. But event details change, programs evolve, and figures are reported to us by others. Nothing on this site is a guarantee, and nothing on it is professional advice — financial, tax, legal or otherwise. In particular, whether a donation is deductible on your own tax return depends on your circumstances, and you should ask your own advisor.

We do not promise the site will always be available or always be free of error. It is hosted by a third-party platform and, like every website, it will occasionally be down.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, VPSPSA, its board, officers, volunteers and members are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of this website, from any inability to use it, or from reliance on anything published on it. Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us, if any, in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do we will change the effective date at the top of the page. Continuing to use the site after that date means you accept the revised terms. If a change is significant we will say so on the site rather than rely on you noticing.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute arising from them or from your use of this site will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you agree to that jurisdiction.

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
